Orthophoto View Service, Annual

This service provides access to orthophotos (scale correct aerial photographs) in colour (RGB) and in infra-red (IR) with a resolution of 0,16 m and 0,4 m per pixel from 2019 onwards, and 0,25 m and 0,5 m per pixel from 2006-2018. The orthophotos are from 2006 and onwards, divided into separate layers for each year of aerial photography. The product name in Swedish is Ortofoto Visning Årsvisa.

About this product

For orthophotos from 2010 and onwards, seamlines and aerial photo exposure times for included aerial images are shown in separate metadata layers.

Maintenance and update frequency

The service is continuously updated with new orthophotos as they are produced.

Download shape files

If more accurate information regarding the acquisition times for aerial photographs are needed, information files in shape format, containing exposure points for the aerial photographs, can be downloaded and matched against the orthophotos.

Here you can find the latest information regarding the outcome of the orthophoto production.

In GeoLex (opens in new window), you will find information regarding metadata for aerial photographs and orthophotos.

Technical framework and standard for view services

Our map and image view services are based on the standardized call interfaces Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) developed by The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). WMS is also an ISO standard (ISO 19128).

The Open Geospatial Consortium website (new window)

The services are of the nature 'question-answer', where the consumer (user's system) sends a service call over the Internet and receives a map image in a standard image format or in a vector format for certain types of services.

The characteristics of the map image are defined by the call parameters, such as information type, geographical spread, reference system, image format and image size.

There are many client applications for display services or components for integration into own system available. In addition to commercial products, there are a number of established products based on open source code, such as QGIS.
