Focus areas

Lantmäteriet has in its final report for the government assignment Digital first pointed out a number of focus areas for the period 2018 to 2020 where the municipalities, Lantmäteriet and other authorities need to gather strength in order to jointly achieve the goal of a digitally uninterrupted community building process. According to the report, the following focus areas need to be prioritized:

  • Building a national platform for geodata access for all information in the community building process
  • Standardized national plans that are nationally available
  • Standardized information in the base map that is nationally available
  • Increased use of 3D information and seamless handling of BIM and GIS
  • Visualization as a tool in citizen dialogue
  • Automation of simpler cases that shorten processing times

Following the submission of the final report, the Government has distributed a number of new assignments to several authorities aimed at improving the conditions for municipalities and authorities to work with a digital community building process. Many new opportunities emerge, but also demands that municipalities and authorities must adapt to new national solutions and regulations.

To actively participate in the joint initiatives that are started is a way to both learn more and to contribute knowledge and experience to good solutions.
