The processing result

When the processing is completed, the result is delivered to you, via My pages on Swepos' Service Portal and e-mail.

Estimated time from order to delivery depends partly on the length of the RINEX file / observation time, partly on whether your job ends up in a queue, but normally the result will be delivered within 10 minutes to an hour. Contact Swepos control centre if you have not received a response with a few hours.

What does the result contain?

The processing result contains, among other things, information about 

  • the user name and the e-mail address to which the result is delivered
  • the static GNSS measurement, for example point name, measurement time, and  used antenna and receiver types
  • which Swepos stations were used as reference data for the processing
  • which GNSS ephemeris files were used for the processing
  • coordinates in SWEREF 99 and RH 2000, and the selected map projection, as well as ITRF2020
  • quality parameters from the baseline determination and alignment with SWEREF 99.

Using these parameters, you can assess the quality of the result.

Additionally, the pdf version of the result includes a comprehensive report of the RINEX file data content, with quality metrics and charts.

Rules of thumb for evaluation

Some important parameters when evaluating the result are, among other things, the average proportion of resolved phase ambiguities, the uncertainty of the final fixed solution (RMS) and RMS of the Helmert fitting to SWEREF 99. Based on this, one can assess the approximate uncertainty of the position determination. Another parameter to consider is a large difference between fixed and float solutions, as this often indicates problems with the determination of period acquaintances (or that the measurement time is too short).

If the measurement was carried out for at least 2–3 hours, and the local measurement environment is good, the following limit values apply:

  • The average proportion of resolved phae ambiguities should be more than 30%.
  • RMS of the final fixed solution should be less than 3 mm.
  • The basic mean error in the fit against SWEREF 99 must be less than 10 mm.
  • Difference in height in the elevation limit test must be less than 30 mm.

If these criteria are met, and a choke ring antenna was used during the measurement, you can expect a position uncertainty of the determination in SWEREF 99 of approximately 1‑2 cm in plane and 2‑3 cm in height over the ellipsoid. These values are expected to cover 95% of all measurements. The measurement uncertainty will be slightly higher if other geodetic antennas are used. Centering uncertainty is not included in the values. For heights in RH 2000, there is also the uncertainty of the geoid model.

Please, note that the post-processing service is not suited for shorter observation times than two hours. For observation times shorter than two hours, you can expect decimetre level rather than centimetre level accuracy. Shorter observation times than 30 minutes are not supported in the post-processing service.

If you need high accuracy, we recommend 2x24 hour observation with a choke ring antenna, which gives a positional uncertainty of approximately 6 mm in plane and 12 mm in height at the 95% confidence level.
