Sweden is 1 572 km long.

Sweden is a long country and extends from approximately 55°N in the south to 69°N in the north.
In the Southern Hemisphere, the 60th parallel runs across the empty ocean areas around the Antarctic. In the Northern Hemisphere, 600 N crosses several large cities, such as Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg and Anchorage in Alaska.
Sweden is 1 572 km long and approximately 500 km wide at its widest point.
The area of Sweden, including lakes and watercourses, is approximately 449 964 square km.
In size, Sweden is comparable with Iraq or Morocco and, in Europe, with Spain.
Examples of countries that have approximately the same population as Sweden - about 9 million - are Bulgaria and Zimbabwe.
People living in Sweden, where the population density is only approximately 22 persons per square km, have plenty of space compared with those in other European countries. The Dutch have the least space with a population density of 372 persons per square km.
