Introduction of SWEREF 99
Preparations for the introduction of SWEREF 99 have been in progress at Lantmäteriet for several years. The preparations have mainly comprised geodetic development work and the creation of a map projection. In a number of reports to the Government Lantmäteriet has described the pre-conditions for a national and a local introduction of SWEREF 99.
The practical work with the introduction of SWEREF 99, both in Lantmäteriet's activities and at the local authority level, has begun. Careful consideration will be given to specified user needs and requirements.
Introduction of RH 2000
Preparations are in progress at Lantmäteriet for the introduction of the new height system, RH 2000, which is based on the third national levelling programme (Riksavvägningen). The field work was completed in 2003. The practical work with the introduction RH 2000, both in Lantmäteriet's activities and at the local authority level, has begun.
During the coming years Lantmäteriet will, in cooperation with the users, further develop methods for converting planar and vertical reference systems, as well as implementing the systems in existing databases and production systems.
A homogeneous national geodetic reference system will, on the long term, result in decreased costs for central and local government as well as for other producers and users of geographic information.
