- I have installed DjVu but Internet Explorer only displays a red X
- If the only thing being displayed is a red X where the map or document is expected to appear, you should have a look at the top of the browser window. There should be an information bar stating that the "website wishes to run the following add-on". To allow DjVu to run, simply click anywhere on the information bar and select "Run add-on" (note that the exact phrasing of the message and selection may vary depending on the version of Internet Explorer you have installed).
- Internet Explorer displays an error code and shuts down whenever I try viewing a map or document
-
There is a known incompatibility problem regarding Norton's anti-virus software and DjVu which causes Internet Explorer to shut down.
One solution is to install an additional browser, for example Mozilla Firefox (new window), Google Chrome (new window) or Opera (new window) (there is no problem having multiple web browsers installed simultaneously). Please note that you have to reinstall DjVu and restart your computer when you have installed the new browser.
Another option is to disable the add-ons that Norton installs in Internet Explorer. This is done at your own risk as Lantmäteriet renounces all responsibility and liability concerning the possible decrease in security that this procedure might inflict.
To disable the add-on, select "Tools", then click "Manage Add-ons" followed by "Enable or Disable Add-ons". In the list, find all add-ons containing the word "Norton" and disable them.
- When trying to view maps or documents in Firefox I get a message stating I need to download a plugin
- You need to reinstall DjVu and restart your computer to enable DjVu in Firefox. When reinstalling, choose the "Repair" option and then restart your computer once the repair has finished.
- Is DjVu not compatible with Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)?
-
In order to run DjVu in Snow Leopard, follow these steps:
- Close all Safari windows.
- Open a new Finder window by clicking on the Finder Icon in the dock and navigate to the program folder.
- In Finder, select Safari.
- Choose "More Information".
- Select the tab "General" in the "Safari Info" window.
- Check the option "Run in 32-bit mode".
- Close the "Safari Info" window.
- Restart Safari.
- Is Linux not supported?
-
The services that use DjVu are optimized for PC and Mac (through the DjVu browser plugin) but you can try downloading the Open Source equivalent DjVu Libre plugin. However, Lantmäteriet cannot guarantee complete functionality and will not give support in questions regarding installation and use.
Choose the installation package that corresponds to your Linux distribution:
Download DjVu Libre for Debian (new window)
Download DjVu Libre for Fedora/Redhat (new window)
- I have a 64-bit operating system (XP, Vista or Windows 7), will DjVu work properly?
- Yes, as long as you use a web browser that runs in 32-bit mode. This means that you cannot use DjVu with Internet Explorer 64-bit for the time being.
