Organisation
Lantmäteriet is organised in four divisions each of which has its special area of responsibility
- The Cadastral Services Division, which is responsible for real property formation and sub-division
- The Land Registration Division, which is responsible for land registration and land title issues
- The Land and Geographic Information Division, which is responsible for the creation of geographic and real property information databases and for making the data available
- Metria, which is Lantmäteriet´s Commercial Division and works on a competitive basis
A number of corporate functions support these activities by providing specialist competence in fields such as economy, legal issues, human resources and communication.
The Cadastral Services Division
The division is responsible for the overarching management of activities related to real property formation and cadastral procedures. These include, for example, the creation of new property units, changes to existing property boundaries, joint property units, easements and utility easements and joint facilities. The division has a staff of approximately 860 at 80 offices throughout Sweden.
The Land Registration Division
The division is responsible for checking registration transactions with regard to ownership, mortgages and other rights and charges and registering them in the Land Register section of the Real Property Register. The division also handles the collection of stamp duty and fees for these transactions. The major part of our activities is carried out in seven local offices each of which is responsible for handling registration transactions within its geographically defined area. The main office in Gävle is responsible for leading and co-ordinating registration activities.
The division has a staff of approximately 200 made up of central management and personnel at the seven local offices in Eksjö, Härnösand, Hässleholm, Mora, Norrtälje, Skellefteå and Uddevalla.
The Land and Geographic Information Division
The division is responsible for the generation, further development, management and distribution of geographic and land information. Standardisation work and R&D in geodesy, cartography and GIS is also carried out in the division. The division has a staff of approximately 550 and has offices in Gävle, Karlskrona, Kiruna and Luleå.
Division Metria
Metria carries out a broad programme of repayment services including consultancy. Metria´s consultancy commissions are mainly related to field survey, mapping, remote sensing and geographic information techniques. One of Metria´s specialist areas of competence in the information techniques field is the development of customised GIS solutions. Metria has 40 offices and a staff of approximately 425.
